Efsen UV launches ICAD test bench at Labelexpo
The new technology is an inline UV measurement technology
ICAD Technology is a newly developed inline UV measurement technology by company Efsen UV and EB Technology.
As the need for process control increases in the label production, the variable factor of the UV light is more and more in focus. Especially for hotmelt and PSA applications as well as food compliance and pharma applications, the need to assure the quality of the UV cure is rising.
Keeping the ask in mind, ICAD benefits both label printers, as well as ink manufacturers. Ink or PSA manufactures get a new tool for testing and documenting the UV requirements to their products. The ICAD test bench will give a calibrated value of the intensity (mW per cm2) and the dose (mJ per cm2) that is applied to the ink or PSA at speeds up to 250 meter per min. This is the first time, ink suppliers can simulate the same cure parameter offline in the lab, as their customers have online on the press.
Printers have several options to use ICAD to improve cure quality, uptime on press and reduction in scrap. ICAD is available for off-line testing of lamps via the ICAD test box, and for new press installations ICAD can be integrated directly on the press for online control of the UV output.
ICAD enables the future of the label market to be better aligned with UV curing. Ink or PSA producers get a mutual “language of UV”, which their customer also can use in their daily production.
ICAD is being demonstrated at the Phoseon technology booth in hall 5B17 at Labelexpo Europe 2023.
